Condition: Antique ~1854 in excellent condition. Repairs to typical fine hairline cracks in barrel and back of headjoint. Recently overhauled by Jay Ham, who repadded it, changed the cork bumpers, adjusted key action, and retuned to bring it to modern pitch (using non-destructive shellac method). Plays at A440hz with slide extended approx 5mm.
Features a couple "Nicholson" type ergonomic features such as a scalloped recess for the crook of the left hand as well as a recessed leather thumb pad on the underside of the right hand section.
Grey Larsen once tried this flute and remarked at what a great player it is. It was also owned for a while by flute maker Casey Burns who studied it extensively.
It comes with an original Rudall & Rose case, but not original to this flute. The cases were swapped at an auction in the early 80's.
Keys function very well indeed - all the way to low C!
