Patrick Olwell has meticulously refurbished this exquisite flute crafted from cocus wood and silver, featuring Rose engine engraved rings. The restoration includes the creation of a new Olwell stamped rosewood headjoint using the original fittings. The rosewood matches the original cocus wood very nicely. Additionally, Pat has conducted thorough fine reboring and retuning, enhancing the flute's performance to excel at A=440Hz.
Patrick's notes:
"Sounding length of the original head joint is on the short side, meaning that it was originally intended to play at higher pitch. Nicely in tune at A=440hz when you extend the tuning slide but really prefers 445 or so if you're able to have your fiddler tune up a bit :). Will accept a standard Olwell head joint (simply add a slight bit of paper towel over the cork for a temporary shim / snug fit - which will bring the pitch of the flute down a bit more). Holes are medium-small. Stamped Birmingham but I suspect it was actually made in London. After a good bit of effort, I've managed to get this flute playing really well. Foot keys play as well!"
