George Rudall Cocus & Silver 4-Key F Flute

$2,99999
Condition: Used - Excellent

Geo Rudall-marked flute in F, an exceptionally rare example. Made of cocus wood with silver fittings, featuring four keys with flat cups, cork pads, and silver-lined channels. The foot is marked "Geo Rudall / Willis fecit," while all other parts bear the "Geo Rudall" stamp. This is the only known early Rudall flute in F, as all other documented examples are pitched in D.

The headjoint is unlined and lacks a tuning slide. A small hairline crack on the underside of the headjoint has been sealed. The crown is likely a replacement, but the cork mechanism remains original.

Currently set up for a vented Gb key (Eb on a D flute). At some point in its history, a bushing was added to hole 6 to slightly lower the pitch for the vented Gb fingering; this could be opened back up for non-vented fingering. Plays with a lovely, sweet tone, yet offers a strong and punchy bottom F. Plays at A=440hz with headjoint out 4-5mm.

Truly a great choice for both discerning player & collector!
