Condition: Antique (~Mid 19th Century). Good. Crack repairs to headjoint and barrel (pictured). Has been recently repadded and the foot keys seal ok - perhaps even better with a drop of oil on them.
This flute reminds me very much of Peloubet's flutes. As Edward Baack was known as both a manufacturer and dealer (also in the US - New York), one does wonder if Peloubet ever made flutes for him. Tuning is very good - a good A440 player. Tone is sweet - an easy player. The headjoint though it has some sealed cracks, does play well. This flute does really come alive when I put a modern headjoint on it (My Olwell headjoint in this case). Would be a good candidate to have someone fashion a new headjoint to get the greatest potential out of this instrument. Still, very lovely as is.
