Crafted in two & three pieces, these flutes feature a multi-stage body taper and fraise-undercut tone holes making them responsive & balanced across the instruments' range. O-rings provide a secure, airtight seal at the joints, and the 7-degree dovetail embouchure angle under-cut from both sides makes these flutes ambidextrous, right out of the box.
These flutes feature Carbony's signature tuning slide, which is designed to reduce turbulent airflow. This helps to provide excellent power while maintaining a warm, resonant tone wherever you need the head to sit along the tuning slide.
Carbony offers a Traditional Irish Flute in D with silver flute finger-spacing. This can be nice for players with smaller finger-reach, or for anyone looking for a more Boehm-system-like flute playing experience.
Two-piece flutes feature a thinner diameter body which can be more comfortable for some players, especially with hands on the smaller-side. The strength of carbon fiber allows them to achieve this while still maintaining a cylindrical outer shape and conical bore.
Regarding Features & Options:
Flutes of different pitches have some or all of the following options available. The photos shown here give an idea of what Carbony's flutes look like, based upon selected options the appearance of specific instruments can vary. If you have any questions about these excellent instruments, please feel free to contact us, we'll be happy to help however we can.
- Ambidextrous Play: Nearly all Carbony flutes listed here are playable left-handed or right-handed. If you would like to purchase an Irish D flute with silver-flute / Bohem-style finger spacing, but set-up to be played left-handed, please just let us know, that can be arranged! The default fingering layout on the silver flutes, though, is for right-handed play.
- Finish Options: Most of Carbony's instruments feature the distinctive, "woven," appearance of carbon fiber. Some flutes, however, can be ordered with a special sanded finish which looks very much like wood grain.
- Close Finger Spacing: Using internal, "chimneys," Carbony is able to set up some flutes with holes that are positioned closer-together, making the distance from one hole to the next smaller. This feature is especially helpful with lower-pitched flutes.
