Condition: Antique with repaired cracks. Recently restored by Jerry Schur
As you can see in the photos, and from what I can tell this flute has repairs to cracks in the headjoint, right hand and foot joint sections. The barrel is not original. I've done my best to photograph the repairs so have a close look. Anonymous yet made in the style of Rudall & Rose with small to medium sized holes. Embouchure looks like it was opened up a bit. With the bottom C/C# keys installed, the bottom D is a bit veiled. I feel that those keys could be adjusted further so that they rise higher (so as not to shade the bottom D) Take those keys off and the bottom D is very strong, especially for a flute with smaller holes. For the player with a nice focussed embouchure, this flute will perform in an Irish trad context and be able to speak in smaller to medium sized sessions. Intonation is very good. A/B notes slightly sharp where the player must lip down a bit. The bottom D is just slightly flat but when played "hard", plays well in tune. Overall I'm very impressed with this flute's performance. The existing headjoint plays very well. I put my Olwell headjoint on it and as you'd guess, plays even better. Plays well at A440hz with the slide extended
